Prospectus
If you are looking for a school place for your child the best place to start is to have a look at the Class pages on our website and the Noticeboard as this will give you a good feel for our school and whether it feels like a place where your child could feel safe and happy.
Our prospectus can be downloaded from the link below and gives you an overview of our school. If you feel that you would like to apply for a place we would strongly recommend that you phone to check that we have a space in the year group you require. If we do have a space then it is a really good idea to make an appointment to come and have a tour of the school. Appointments can be made by phoning the school office and speaking to Mrs Hardes who will be happy to help.
ADMISSIONS
Policy for September 2026
Sedlescombe Church of England Primary School is part of the Diocese of Chichester Academy Trust (DCAT) so we need to have our own Admissions Policy. Below you will find the Admissions Arrangements for children starting school in September 2026.
IN-YEAR ADMISSIONS
Applications for spaces for in-year admissions to Sedlescombe Church of England Primary School can also be made via East Sussex’s website. Once the application has been made the school then has responsibility to allocate the space. The place will be allocated as soon as possible if there is a space available. If there are not spaces available in the requested year group your child will be added to the waiting list. If there is more than one child on the waiting list for the school any place that becomes available would be allocated using admission criteria outlined in the policy above.
STARTING SCHOOL
Starting a new school can be an exciting and daunting time for both parents and children. We hope that the information on our website will help you to get all the information you need to help you and your child start at our school. A good place to start is by reading our Parent/Carer Handbook which contains the most important information you need as your child starts school. The calendar gives you all our upcoming dates and the latest newsletters can be found in the Noticeboard tab. In addition to this information about your child’s class can be found on the Class Pages.
One of the first things that you need to do when your child starts school is to arrive at school safely and know how to collect your child at the end of the day. Brief guidance is available in the Parent/Carer Handbook, but full details on dropping your child at school in the morning and collecting them at the end of the day is available In our Dropping and Collecting Children at School Policy, which can be downloaded from the documents section opposite.
Please note that as with all schools, parking can be a challenge. The Parking Map shows where parents and carers are asked not to park because it is in breach of the Highway Code and puts the children at risk when they are walking into and out of school at the start and end of the day.
If you cannot find what you are looking for, or have a question please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help.

Our Environment
We have designed a warm, welcoming environment inspired by the Danish concept of hygge. Classrooms are calm and inviting, with natural materials and soft lighting used wherever possible to help children feel safe, settled and ready to learn. Our learning spaces are designed to spark curiosity and celebrate individuality. We want every child to feel known, valued and supported, so they can learn, feel loved, and grow into confident, compassionate individuals.
Each classroom features a bespoke reading area, filled with high-quality, age-appropriate books. We want every child to become fluent readers with a lifelong love of reading — because we believe reading enables everyone to become a life-long learner.
Beyond the classroom, our outdoor environment has been developed with children in mind. It includes a running sports area for running and active play, a construction zone for creativity and problem-solving, an outdoor gym to promote physical wellbeing, and a stage area complete with dressing-up clothes and music to encourage imaginative expression.
OUR CHILDREN
At the heart of our school is each and every child. As a small school we are able to know each child as an individual and can build on their strengths and nurture and support their weaknesses. Our children are taught by dedicated, hard working staff who make learning fun and exciting whilst ensuring that we provide a high quality education so that every child realises his or her potential.
Head Teacher Welcome
"I’m proud to lead a school where we are all “Learning, Loving and Growing Together with God.” A motto that reflects our commitment to nurturing every child academically, emotionally and spiritually.
We believe children flourish when they feel safe, valued and inspired. Our homely environment fosters a strong sense of belonging and encourages children to be courageous and aspirational in their learning. We have built a rich and engaging curriculum that makes learning an adventure and extends beyond the classroom offering experiences that spark curiosity and build life long memories.
We warmly invite you to explore our website and discover what makes our school such a special place to learn and grow."
Mrs. Caroline Harvey
